Do you know how you can make this year's winter break unforgettable? Your kids will enjoy a nice, long break from school over the holidays, but you want them to doing more than playing video games this winter vacation.

Believe it or not, there's an easy way for you to keep your kids active this winter while sneaking in a bit of science fun. And the best part is, you won't have to travel very far to find it! The Discovery Center brings you Winter Camp , where your kids will have the chance to explore 5 different science themes over winter break. Winter Camp at The Discovery Center lets your kids learn about science and nature through many winter-themed activities.

Winter Camp at The Discovery Center is from Dec. 22-24 and Jan. 5-9. Your kids can join us for the week or choose just the single days of camp they'd like to take part in. Click here to download a Winter Camp registration form. Here are this year's Winter Camp themes:

  1. How to Study the Weather: Your kids will find out how to study the weather. Cloud charts, snowflakes, and bubbles are just things they'll get to explore. Are you ready to be a meteorologist? (Dec. 22 and Jan. 5)
  2. Wilderness Survival: Learn some important survival skills to use if you're ever lost or stranded. Your kids will learn about navigation and orientation - and what to do without a cell phone! (Dec. 23 and Jan. 6)
  3. Animals Under Cover: Many animals develop special adaptations to help them survive the long, cold Winter months. This class teaches your kids about animal hibernation, migration, and winter coat changes. See how these undercover creatures withstand nature's extremes! (Dec. 24 and Jan. 7)
  4. Science and Cooking: We've all made Christmas cookies and used popcorn to decorate for the holidays, right? Have you ever tried a snowcake or dry icecream? Explore the states of matter as we explore the science of cooking. (Jan. 8)
  5. Winter Structures: Just how cold is cold? Join us on Building Day to find the answer. Campers will build an igloo and other structures to examine the power and strength of Mother Nature. (Jan. 9)
